The Letter
First of all, thank you all for the interest and orders on vinylshop.co.uk! We’ve had a fair amount of back issues go out since we sent last month’s letter out, as well as some of the handpicked bits on there we haven’t featured on W&S. As always, if there’s something you would like to see on either platform, or if you have any feedback let us know: [email protected]

Now, on to this month’s records. Another month with two LPs for you, and one of them is a double album!

Our first album is from the British quintet, Easy Life. This is a lovely blend of indie rock & 90s R&B with a summery hip-hop infusion. There has been quite a rise of hip-hop/indie-rock releases over the last few years, but the band sets itself apart a bit on this Album with a mature and wide-ranging set of songs that frankly just put us in a good mood when we listened through. “Maybe In Another Life” is a good one for bumping through summer.

Our second album is the 15th (!) studio album from producer Ian Simmonds. Not fitting into one genre, Simmonds’ signature moody but poignant style is spread liberally over Jazz, Electronica, Trip Hop, the abstract and a bit of Afro Funk and Dub creating an interestingly well rounded, eclectic sound.Released on the legendary Pussyfoot records, (check out their extensive back catalogue if you haven’t already), “All That’s Left” is a meaty release with plenty to get into, not least the Middle-Eastern/North African style cover of Burt Bacharach’s “The Look of Love.” Two discs of excellence here.
