The Letter
This letter and issue comes off the back of the W&S crew visiting Alexandra Palace this month and seeing the mighty Primal Scream out in the park performing the entirety of their classic album “Screamadelica.” A beautiful day and a beautiful piece of music that has us inspired to keep picking great releases for your ears!

Now, on to the vinyl.

Our album this month is a great complement to last month’s Daytoner album, with both combining to make the perfect garden party soundtrack for your July/August. This is an unvault from our friends Smoove and Turrell, who were nice enough to provide us with their fifth studio album, “Mount Pleasant.” An awesome mix of modern disco and northern soul which suits the sunshine so well. If you like this, go check out two of their better known works; “Beggarman” and “Hard Work.”

This month’s EP is an excellent compilation from the well established Afro-house label, MoBlack Records. This is the third from their sampler series of sampler 12”s, and is our favourite of the series so far. Our two favourites are on the A side: First up, Italian duo Armonica and South African songstress Toshi have their incredible track ‘Ngeke’ remixed into a deeply hypnotising, glitched out roller by Andhim. Armonica then take on Dele Sosimi’s ‘Turbulent Times’ reworking the afrobeat flavours into a swelling, synthesised house number filled to the brim with emotion. Enjoy!
