Spring is well and truly with us in the UK now, and we are looking forward to festival season in a big way! We generally go for the smaller, less well known ones here at W&S, which is probably not surprising news to you, but the one bigger one that we’re definitely hitting is One Love in August (onelovefestival.co.uk). It is put together to support the Rio Ferdinand Foundation, which helps create opportunities for young people who might otherwise not have them. Check it out!

Now, on to the vinyl, and good news: This month is a bonus one, with two albums for you!

The first one answers a question that we’ve been asking for quite a while: What should be the first grime release we include in a Wax and Stamp box? After looking at a number of options, we landed on this release from Terror Danjah and fortunately enough, we were able to work together with the label to bring you a double album from the London-based artist. “The Dark Crawler” was first released in 2012, and is an underground classic. A mix of instrumental and vocal grime tracks, it is hard to believe it’s 10 years old already!

Our second LP comes to you from the other side of the world; Australia. Hiatus Kaiyote are a quartet that classify themselves as “Future Soul,” but it is clear that their influences are super wide ranging. Their previous work has been sampled by the likes of Drake and Kendrick Lamar. “Mood Valiant” is a beautiful piece of contemporary Jazz Funk Soul goodness that should ease the way through spring and into summer. Enjoy!
