Now, on to the records:
Good news: We’re back to a month with two albums for you! We’ve got a contrasting pair of releases from very different worlds for your listening pleasure:
LP number one is the second album from Ithaca, NY-based rock band
X Ambassadors.
“Orion” delves into a myriad of emotionally charged topics, from intimate moments in “History” and “Shadow,” to instant radio hits in “Boom” and “Hold You Down,” The band are not afraid to flex their range and everything they’ve learned since their 2015 debut album, “VHS,” and incorporate various styles into their songs, such as jazz, alternative, hip hop, and R&B, which all of the members grew up listening to. A great release from a maturing outfit!
Our second LP is from London drill artist,
Unknown T. Best known for his 2018 track, “Homerton B” which offered a glimpse of something joyous in the bleak world of UK drill, T has pushed the genre somewhat into the mainstream. This year’s
“Blood Diamond” is his debut album, and it is a banger! Going beyond just drill into hip hop & afrobeat, this release showcases different styles under the UK hip hop umbrella & makes it much more accessible than the output of many of T’s contemporaries. This is an excellent debut that promises much more. Play loud.
