The Letter
We hope you’re cracking on with things, and it’s starting to feel like spring wherever you are in the world! We’re happy to tell you that this month we have a bit of a bonus for you, in the form of two whole LPs instead of an LP and an EP. So, this month is a bumper box of music for you to get lost in.

Those albums are:

Firstly this month is “Útera,” the exceptional and hypnotic sophomore studio album from Buenos Aires native Kaleema (aka Heidi Lewandowski). The album flirts between disparate styles, weaving together elements such as dub with andean flutes, or classic string melodies with ambient overtures that allow the listener to float freely in a sea of emotions. Moving from forceful techno-like rhythms (such as on Rama Negra or Utera) that take us through deep dark jungles, into demure yet rapturous passages on tracks like Portales and Invoco, Útera is ultimately an album that taps into Heidi's deep sense of connection to the natural world, and how her growth as an individual reflects the growth around her. A lovely slice of atmospheric electronica that reflects Kaleema’s roots.

Second (or equal first) this month is "The Gumption" by Tanika Charles. Predominantly guitar-driven mid-tempo soul, with a handful of dance floor friendly tunes and some psychedelic leanings, The Gumption was indirectly influenced by the likes of Alabama Shakes, The Supremes, Khruangbin, D'Angelo, and Moses Sumney. It is sonically moody at times, but with consistent silver-lining arcs. Tanika says; "I've grown up and learned to deal with situations significantly better. We have a tendency to hold back our innermost feelings for fear of hurting others. Even when we're happy we worry about oversharing, as if joy is a competition you don't want to gloat about." We agree!
