The Letter
Well here it is! Issue 100. It has been a long road so far, with 200 different titles sent out to thousands of people all over the world. There have been ups and downs (especially downs recently with our warehouse issues!), loads of amazing people met, and music events attended. We hope you enjoy this special 100th edition, and stick with us for some or all of the next 100 issues!

Now, on to the vinyl:

Your album this month is the latest album from composer, producer and bassist Huw Marc Bennett, “Days Like Now.” This release is, ostensibly, a guitar album. It is a record built around the versatility and charisma of that instrument, and even when synths, organs, and vocals step in, it is with the permission of a guitar sequence that brings order and drive. Bennett has spoken of the concept for the album being the reflections on his place of origin as a Welshman in London, and the folk intermingles with the urban. Tracks like “Y Cariad Cyntaf” and “Ffarwel i Langyfelach”, which form a neat duo in the centre of the album, are delivered with a grave panache somewhere between King Crimson and Jethro Tull. But the freshness of the mixtures of traditions and sounds is held together by the guitar work. Lovely.

The 12”` for this month is an excellent one from Blacksmif, AKA Yemi Olagbaiye. “23 Waist” is an early release from this accomplished producer. An atmospheric 3 tracks of urban house await you here with some really subtle use of bleep on the title track, which we always love!
