The Letter
Our guest selector for March was Kate Lazda, who may be better known as vocalist and guitarist of Glasgow indie-poppers Kid Canaveral, as well as one half of the inimitable Lost Map Records. We had the pleasure of seeing Kate at Union Chapel last December with her lovely voice, and I’m excited to have her choose this month’s record, Standard Fare’s Out of Sight, Out of Town. Here’s a few words from her:

“I’m a big fan of lead singer Emma’s various musical projects (check out Mammoth Penguins, Hayman Kupa Band and her solo stuff) but I think Standard Fare are probably my favourite. She has such an amazing voice and Standard Fare (RIP) made really brilliant pop tunes. is is their second album, if you enjoy it check out their debut, Noyelle Beat, too!”

Now for Josh’s choice: Gerry Rooney and Joel Martin have have one of the most impressive underground back catalogues imaginable. Whether under the Black Cock guise (with DJ Harvey), Quiet Village, or Cougarman & General Z, they have constantly produced incredible records. is one, under Velvet Season & the Hearts of Gold, is no different. Expect this to line the record bags of the world’s best DJs for years to come.
